Laurin Baumann

Laurin is a musician based in Zürich, Switzerland, who plays piano and bass guitar, and is also “learning” cello—mostly in his sleep.

During his younger years, he performed live piano at various film screenings, which, along with some key musical influences, sparked his passion for composition. Today, Laurin is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in composition for film, theater, and media at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste. He studies composition with Kaspar Ewald, Olav Lervik, and Till Löffler, while Tamriko Kordzaia guides him in classical piano and Tim Kleinert in jazz piano.

Laurin has a soft spot for writing unapologetically cheesy, minimalistic neoclassical piano music but also has quite a fondness for pure electronic sounds. His ultimate goal? To blend classical and electronic music in a way that honors both styles without losing their distinct vibes.
